Stuffed Chayote Pears

  1. Halve the chayote pears horizontally.
  2. Remove seed and place in a large Ziploc bag.
  3. Cook on high 20 minutes.
  4. Saute ham, onions and garlic with a tablespoon butter until vegetables are transparent.
  5. Add celery and cook until tender.
  6. Scoop out cooled chayote pear meat from outside shells.
  7. Mash chayote pear meat and mix with shrimp and cheese.
  8. Add to mixture in skillet.
  9. Add bread crumbs.
  10. Place in greased 8 x 12-inch casserole dish.
  11. Cover with additional seasoned bread crumbs and cheese.
  12. Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 minutes.
  13. Serves 6 to 8. Can be used as a main dish or side dish.
