Deep-Dish Pizza
- 2 c. Bisquick
- 1/2 c. cold water
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1 small can sliced mushrooms, drained
- 2 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
- toppings as desired (sliced olives, peppers, etc.)
- In a large bowl, mix Bisquick and water until soft dough forms.
- Beat vigorously for 20 strokes.
- Form dough into ball on floured board and knead 20 times.
- Pat dough into bottom of a 9 x 13-inch pan and up the sides to form an edge.
- Cook and stir ground beef and onion until browned; drain.
- Spread tomato sauce over dough.
- Sprinkle with oregano.
- Spoon ground beef over sauce. Add mushrooms and other toppings of your choice.
- Top with cheese last.
- Bake at 425u0b0 until crust is golden brown (approximately 20 minutes); keep a close eye on pizza after first 10 minutes of baking to avoid burning!
- (Depending on toppings chosen and individual oven idiosyncrasies, you may find that a slightly lower baking temperature will work better for you.)
- Makes 8 servings.
