Christmas Fruit Cookies

  1. Cream shortening and sugar; beat in eggs and add vanilla. Dissolve soda in buttermilk.
  2. Combine 1 cup flour and spices; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk and bourbon.
  3. Beat well after each addition.
  4. Coat fruit with 1/2 cup flour; stir fruit and nuts into batter.
  5. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets and bake at 350u0b0 for 10 to 15 minutes.
  6. Makes 6 dozen cookies.
