Banana Split Dessert
- 1/2 c. melted butter or margarine
- 2 c. vanilla wafer crumbs
- 2 eggs
- 2 c. sifted powdered sugar
- 3/4 c. butter, softened
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple
- 4 bananas, sliced
- 1 (9 oz.) carton Cool Whip
- 1/2 c. coarsely chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1 (4 oz.) jar maraschino cherries or strawberries
- Combine 1/2 cup butter and cookie crumbs and pat into bottom of a 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Beat eggs on high speed for about 4 minutes. Add powdered sugar, 3/4 cup butter and vanilla.
- Beat 5 minutes. Spread over crumbs.
- Chill 30 minutes.
- Drain pineapple and spread over creamed mixture.
- Arrange bananas over pineapple.
- Spread Cool Whip over pineapple.
- Sprinkle with pecans and garnish with cherries.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Better yet when made 2 days ahead.
- Serves 12.
