Ham And Swiss Hero Sandwiches
- 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
- 3 Tbsp. mayonnaise or salad dressing
- 1 Tbsp. Dijon or prepared mustard
- 1 (1 lb.) loaf French bread, cut in half, lengthwise
- 1/2 to 3/4 lb. thinly sliced, cooked ham
- 2 c. shredded lettuce
- 1 large tomato, thinly sliced
- 8 thin slices Swiss cheese
- 3 to 4 thin slices red onion, separated into rings
- In small bowl, combine cream cheese, mayonnaise and mustard; blend well.
- Spread cut surfaces of bread halves with cream cheese mixture.
- Place bottom half of bread on large ungreased cookie sheet.
- Layer with ham, lettuce, tomato, cheese and onion.
- Cover loosely with plastic wrap.
- Refrigerate 1 to 2 hours to blend flavors.
- To serve, cut into slices.
- Makes 8 servings.
