Hearty Oats 'N Wheat Loaves(Winning Recipe; A Wholesome Bread For Toast, Sandwich Or Dinner)
- 2 to 2 1/2 c. Pillsbury's Best bread flour
- 1 c. rolled oats
- 2 tsp. salt
- 3 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 3/4 c. water
- 1/2 c. corn syrup
- 1/2 c. margarine or butter
- 2 eggs (reserve 1 white)
- 2 c. Pillsbury's Best whole wheat flour
- 1 c. Pillsbury's Best medium rye flour
- 1 Tbsp. water
- 4 tsp. sesame seed
- Generously grease two 8 x 4-inch or 9 x 5-inch loaf pans. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.
- In a large bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups bread flour, oats, salt and yeast.
- Blend well.
- In medium saucepan, heat water, corn syrup and margarine until very warm (120u0b0 to 130u0b0).
- Add warm liquid and eggs to flour mixture.
- Blend at low speed until moistened.
- Beat 3 minutes at medium speed.
- By hand, stir in whole wheat flour and rye flour to form a soft dough.
- On floured surface, knead in up to 1 cup bread flour until dough is smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
- Place dough in greased bowl.
- Cover loosely with plastic wrap and cloth towel.
- Let rise in warm place (80u0b0 to 85u0b0) until light and doubled in size, about 1 hour.
