Best Gingerbread Ever
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. mixed butter and shortening
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. hot water
- Cream shortening and butter
- with
- sugar.
- Addtgg and molasses; beat well.
- Sifttogether
- the
- dry ingredients and stir in.
- Add the hot water
- last;tix
- well.
- This
- makes
- a very fluid batter.tour into a greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan and bake in a 350u0b0 oven for
- 35
- to
- 40
- minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.
- When
- cool,
- cut in squares and serve with whipped cream or nutmeg sauce.
- Makes 18 to 20 servings.
