Chocolate Torte

  1. Melt chocolate with water over very low heat, stirring until smooth.
  2. Add 1/2 c. sugar, cook and stir 2 minutes.
  3. Cool.tix flour with 1 1/4 c. sugar, baking soda and salt.
  4. Beat margarine in a large bowl, beat in flour and chocolate mixtures, eggs, milk and vanilla until blended.
  5. Beat at medium speed for 3 minutes.
  6. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9 inch layer pans.
  7. Bake at 350u0b0 for 35 minutes, or until cake springs back when lightly pressed.
  8. Cool in pans 10 minutes, remove, cool on racks.
  9. Split, making 4 layers. Place one layer on plate, spread 1 cup of the chocolate filling over cake.tepeat layers.tIf filling thickens, add about 1 Tbsp. milk.)
  10. Chill about 1 hour.
  11. Garnish with 1 1/4 c. thawed Cool Whip and chocolate curls.
  12. Store in refrigerator.
  13. Makes 12 servings.
