Old Fashioned Light Fruit Cake

  1. Mix butter and sugar until creamed.
  2. Add eggs, one at the time, beating after each addition until yolk is broken.
  3. Then add flavoring.
  4. Sift flour, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon together.
  5. Add to sugar mixture gradually.
  6. Work in nuts and fruit with a heavy spoon.
  7. Pour into prepared pans filling 2/3 full.
  8. Bake at 275u0b0, tube pan about 3 hours, 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pans about 2 hours.
