Fruit-Filled Pockets

  1. Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
  2. Peel pear.
  3. Slice in half and remove the core; dice.
  4. Melt butter in saucepan until half melted.
  5. Place 2 1/2 cups flour, baking powder and salt in bowl and mix together. Add milk and butter and stir until completely mixed.
  6. Sprinkle about 1/4 cup flour on kitchen surface.
  7. Place dough on floured surface and knead about 5 times.
  8. Gently even it out with your hands and then roll out to 1/2-inch thickness.
  9. Cut circles out of dough with cookie cutter.
  10. Cut as many as you can.
  11. Arrange on cookie sheet.
  12. In a mixing bowl, add egg and water and stir with fork until blended.
  13. Dip finger into egg and then dab it around the edge of each circle.
  14. Spoon a generous amount (1 teaspoon) of marmalade or jam in the center of each circle and about 2 to 3 pieces of pear chunks on top of the marmalade.
  15. Fold each circle in half, using a fork to press the edges together.
  16. Bake in oven until golden brown, about 20 minutes.
  17. This recipe makes 10 filled biscuits.
  18. Let cool 10 minutes and enjoy.
