Crescents
- 1/2 lb. butter
- 4 1/2 Tbsp. confectioners sugar
- 2 c. cake flour
- 1 tsp. orange juice
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. water
- 1/2 c. finely chopped nuts
- 1 1/3 c. bread flour (4 c.)
- 1 1/3 pkg. RapidRise 50% faster yeast (4 pkg.)
- 1 1/3 tsp. salt (4 tsp.)
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. sugar (7 Tbsp.)
- 2/3 c. hot water (2 c.)
- 2 beaten eggs (7 to 8 large), reserve some for top
- 2 plus Tbsp. oil (7 Tbsp.)
- 2 1/3 to 2 2/3 c. additional flour (7 to 8 c.)
- In a large glass or Pyrex bowl, mix flour, yeast, salt and sugar.
- Add hot water.
- Add beaten eggs and oil.
- Beat 3 minutes. Add additional flour, starting with 2 cups.
- Stir.
- Add flour until dough is no longer sticky.
- Knead 5 minutes.
