Chocolate Cherry Pudding Cake

  1. Combine flour, sugar, 1/3 cup cocoa and baking powder in a large bowl; stir in milk and applesauce until dry ingredients are moistened.
  2. Fold in cherries and pecans.
  3. Spoon batter into a greased and floured 13 by 9 inch pan.
  4. Combine brown sugar, hot water and 1/4 cup cocoa in medium bowl until smooth.
  5. Pour over batter.
  6. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes or until set (cake will have a pudding-like texture).
  7. Serve warm or at room temperature.
