Sweet Cucumber Pickles
- 16 lb. cucumbers
- 10 lb. sugar
- 1/2 box alum (1 1/2 oz.)
- 1 gal. vinegar (red or white)
- 7 boxes pickling spices
- salt water to float an egg
- Soak
- cucumbers in salt water 14 days.temove slime on top every
- couple
- of
- days.
- Weight
- down
- sotucumbers are covered. Remove,
- rinse
- and
- slice
- thintnd
- round.
- Soak overnight intlum water.
- Rinse and cover with vinegar for 6 hours.throw away
- vinegar.
- Place
- a
- layer of cucumbers, a layer
- of sugar and a layer of pickling spices until container is
- 3/4
- full. Cover.
- Int few days the sugar will melt and make
- syrupto cover
- pickles.
- Leave in container or put in jarstnd cover top. Do not process.
- Keeps indefinitely.
- No need to refrigerate.
