Cherry Chip Cookies
- 1/2 c. soft butter
- 1 (3 oz.) pkg. soft cream cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. finely chopped red candied cherries
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/4 c. sifted flour
- 3/4 c. rolled oats
- Beat butter and cream cheese together.
- Stir in egg, cherries and almond extract.
- Mix and sift sugar, flour, salt and baking powder.
- Add to butter mixture.
- Beat well.
- Stir in oats; blend well.
- Chill.
- Shape mixture into small balls about 3/4-inch in diameter.
- Place on greased cookie sheets.
- Flatten with bottom of glass dipped in flour.
- Place a slice of cherry on top and press into each cookie.
- Bake in 375u0b0 oven 10 to 20 minutes.
- Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
