Marble Cake
- 1 c. Snowdrift shortening
- 6 eggs
- 1/4 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 (5 1/2 oz.) can chocolate syrup
- 3 c. sugar
- 3 c. sifted cake flour
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- Cream togetherthortening
- and
- sugar;
- add 1 egg at a time, beating
- well
- after
- eachtddition.
- Sift together dry ingredients;
- add
- alternately
- with
- buttermilk.
- Add vanilla and blend
- well.
- Pour half the batter into a well-greased and floured 10-inch
- tube
- pan;
- add
- chocolate syrup to remaining batter. Mix;
- pour chocolate mixture over top of other batter and fold
- in gently
- with spatula for marble effect.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
- Cool and frost as desired.
