Marble Cake

  1. Cream togetherthortening
  2. and
  3. sugar;
  4. add 1 egg at a time, beating
  5. well
  6. after
  7. eachtddition.
  8. Sift together dry ingredients;
  9. add
  10. alternately
  11. with
  12. buttermilk.
  13. Add vanilla and blend
  14. well.
  15. Pour half the batter into a well-greased and floured 10-inch
  16. tube
  17. pan;
  18. add
  19. chocolate syrup to remaining batter. Mix;
  20. pour chocolate mixture over top of other batter and fold
  21. in gently
  22. with spatula for marble effect.
  23. Bake at 350u0b0 for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
  24. Cool and frost as desired.
