Scalloped Oysters
- 2 pt. oysters
- 1 c. unsalted butter
- salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 1/2 c. half and half
- 3 c. crushed soda crackers
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice (fresh)
- dash of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp. dry sherry (optional)
- Preheat the oven to 350u0b0.
- Grease a 1 1/2-quart shallow baking dish.
- Drain the oysters; measure 1 cup oyster liquor and reserve. Combine the crackers, butter, lemon juice and salt and pepper to taste.
- Sprinkle a third of the crumb mixture in the bottom of the baking dish.
- Arrange half oysters over the crumbs.
- Sprinkle another third of the crumb mixture over the remaining oysters. Whisk the cream, reserved oyster juice, the sherry (optional) and Worcestershire sauce together; pour over the oysters.
- Sprinkle with the remaining crumb mixture.
- Bake for 40 minutes; serve immediately.
- (Leftovers will be good heated in microwave.)
