Angel Biscuits
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 1 c. nonfat buttermilk
- 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 3 Tbsp. corn oil margarine
- vegetable cooking spray
- Dissolve yeast in warm water; let stand 5 minutes.
- Stir buttermilk into yeast mixture and set aside.
- Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a large bowl; cut in margarine with a pastry blender evenly.
- Add buttermilk mixture, stirring with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened.
- Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface.
- Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 2-1/2-inch biscuit cutter.
- Place on a baking sheet that has been coated with cooking spray.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Bake at 400u0b0 for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden.
- Makes 1 dozen.
