Chocolate Mousse Cake
- 1 sq. unsweetened chocolate
- 1 c. cake flour
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. sour cream
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 Tbsp. hot water
- 2 c. cream
- 4 Tbsp. cold water
- 1 c. powdered sugar
- 1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa
- 1 1/2 tsp. unflavored gelatin
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- dash of salt
- In double boiler, melt chocolate over hot water (not boiling). Let cool.
- In bowl, mix flour, sugar, soda and salt.
- Add shortening and sour cream; beat 2 minutes.
- Add egg, vanilla, melted chocolate and hot water.
- Beat for 2 minutes.
- Pour in 2 (8-inch) pans.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Cool and refrigerate.
