Raisin Molasses Sugar Cookies
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. light molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 3/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. seedless raisins
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
- granulated sugar
- In a large bowl cream together shortening and 1 cup of sugar. Add molasses and egg.
- Beat until well blended.
- Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and salt.
- Stir into molasses mixture and mix well.
- Fold in raisins and nuts.
- Form into 1-inch balls and roll in granulated sugar.
- Place on a greased cookie sheet, about 2-inches apart.
- Slightly flatten with bottom of a glass if desired.
- Bake at 375u0b0 for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let stand 1 minute.
- Remove cookies to wire rack.
- Cool.
- Makes 5 dozen cookies.
