Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls
- 1/2 c. Sourdough Starter
- 1 c. milk
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- raisins
- nuts
- cinnamon sugar
- Use
- Sourdoughttarter
- directions.
- Bisquicktay
- be substituted
- for
- sourdough
- starter.
- Mix starter, milk and 1 cup flour
- in a large bowl.
- Cover this mixture and keep it in a warm place
- overnight.
- The
- next
- day turn the mixture out onto a breadboardtith
- 1
- cup flour and 1/3 cup shortening. Combine salt,
- sugar,
- baking
- powder
- andtakingtoda with remaining 1/2
- cup
- flour and sift over the top of dough.
- Mix dry ingredients
- into the soft dough, kneading lightly.
- Roll out 1/4-inch
- thick.
- Spread raisins, nuts and cinnamon sugar onto the rolled
- out
- dough.
- Rolltough
- into
- a long roll. Slice
- into 1-inch
- thick
- slices.
- Drop
- slices into boiling sauce (recipe follows).
- Fill
- the Dutch oven with rolls.
- To slow the
- baking process, pull away some of the coals, leaving coals on both the top and
- bottom.
- Bake
- about
- 30 minutes at medium heat.
