Kielbasa With Kraut
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 2 slices bacon, cut up
- 1 c. beer
- 1 c. water
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 tsp. caraway seed
- 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 Tbsp. molasses
- 2 Tbsp. brown mustard
- 1 large rutabaga, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 lb. fully cooked kielbasa, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 2 medium apples, cut up
- 1 (16 oz.) can sauerkraut, drained and rinsed
- In Dutch oven, cook onions and bacon until tender but not browned.
- Take off fat.
- Stir in beer.
- Combine water with cornstarch, brown mustard, molasses, caraway seed, allspice and pepper.
- Stir into bacon mixture; cook and stir until thickened and bubbly.
- Add rutabaga; cover and cook 15 minutes.
- Stir in kielbasa, apples and sauerkraut.
- Cook covered 15 to 20 minutes or until apples are tender.
