Bean Soup
- 3 c. dried great Northern beans
- 3 ham hocks
- 1 pkg. ham chunks (seasoning ham pieces)
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 carrot, minced (optional)
- 4 or 5 large red potatoes, cut into 3/4 square pieces
- prepared horseradish, to taste
- garlic ? to taste
- Worcestershire sauce ? to taste
- Place beans and ham in a pot.
- Cover with water and bring to a boil.
- When water has come to a boil, turn heat down to a simmer, cover pot.
- You will cook the beans and ham about 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
- About 1 hour before soup is finished put celery, carrots and onion in the pot.
- About 30 minutes before the soup is finished, put the potatoes in the pot.
- Add horseradish to soup by taste.
