Fresh Apple Pie
- 6 to 8 apples
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- dash of maple syrup
- pinch of salt
- 1/8 tsp. lemon juice (optional)
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- Prepare double crust pie recipe; roll out 1/2 of dough.
- Place in 9-inch pie pan; set aside.
- Peel and slice apples into 6 sections, removing all of core.
- Sprinkle with lemon juice; set aside.
- Mix cornstarch, sugar, salt and cinnamon thoroughly; sprinkle over prepared apples and toss thoroughly.
- Arrange apple mixture in pie pan; dot with butter.
- Roll out top crust; cover apple filling.
- Cut slits in top center.
- Sprinkle top crust with flour-sugar mixture, then a slight sprinkle of water.
- Bake at 400u0b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Reduce heat to 350u0b0; continue to bake for 40 to 45 minutes.
