Soft Pretzels

  1. Preheat oven to 475u0b0.
  2. In a large bowl, mix lukewarm water and yeast until the yeast dissolves.
  3. Stir in the warm water and brown sugar.
  4. Slowly add the flour, stirring until the mixture is smooth and does not stick.
  5. Knead on a lightly floured board until it is stretchy and smooth.
  6. Grease 2 cookie sheets and sprinkle with salt or seed.
  7. Pinch off a piece of dough about golf ball size. Roll into a rope about 14 inches long.
  8. Make into a pretzel shape and press ends into dough.
  9. Fill deep frying pan with water.
  10. To each cup of water, add 1 tablespoon of baking soda.
  11. Bring water to a gentle boil.
  12. Use a spatula to dip each pretzel into pan for 30 seconds.
  13. Lift onto cookie sheet and sprinkle with more salt and seed.
  14. Bake 8 minutes or until golden brown.
