Old Fashioned Apple Slices
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. Crisco
- 1 egg, separated
- milk
- 6 heaping c. thin sliced apples
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 2/3 c. crushed corn flakes
- 1 egg white, beaten
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- Sift flour, 1 tablespoon sugar and salt together; blend with Crisco.
- Add enough milk to egg yolk to make 2/3 cup liquid and add to first mixture.
- Blend and refrigerate an hour or overnight. Roll 1/2 dough.
- Use plenty of flour and place in a 10 x 12-inch pan.
- Put corn flakes on crust.
- Put the sliced apples, then 1 cup sugar and cinnamon.
- Top with rest of dough.
- Bake at 400u0b0 for 40 minutes, until brown.
- Mix powdered sugar and lemon juice; pour on pie while hot.
- Serve hot or cold.
