Irish Soda Bread

  1. Heat oven to 375u0b0.
  2. Combine dry ingredients and sift into medium-large mixing bowl.
  3. Cut butter or margarine into chunks and cut into dry mixture with pastry blender until mixture is size of peas.
  4. Mix in raisins and caraway seed; add milk and egg all at once.
  5. Stir with fork until just blended.
  6. Turn into greased pie plate, mounding in center; with sharp knife, make four slashes in shape of cross.
  7. Bake 30 minutes or until browned on top.
  8. Great with a cup of strong, hot tea on a gray day!
