Turkey Swedish Meatballs
- 1/2 c. minced onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp. water
- 1 lb. ground turkey
- 1/2 c. bread crumbs
- 1/4 c. cholesterol-free egg substitute
- 1/4 c. skim milk
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 2 Tbsp. corn oil margarine
- 1 Tbsp. flour
- 1/8 tsp. mace or nutmeg
- 1 c. skim milk
- 1 Tbsp. dry white wine (optional)
- Combine onion, garlic and water in casserole.
- Microwave, covered, on High for 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 minutes, until onion is tender.
- Add turkey, crumbs, egg, milk and pepper.
- Blend well. Roll into 1-inch balls, place in casserole, cover with waxed paper, then cook on High for 6 to 8 minutes.
- Remove from casserole.
- Add margarine to casserole, melt on High for 30 to 60 seconds.
- Blend flour and mace with butter.
- Gradually stir in milk.
- Cook on High for 3 to 5 minutes, until thickened.
- Stir occasionally.
- Add wine and meat balls, stir, then cook on High 2 to 4 minutes.
- Makes 4 to 6 servings.
