Fruited Chocolate Trifle
- 1 (9-inch) baked chocolate or yellow cake layer
- 1 1/2 c. cold milk
- 1 (3.5 oz.) pkg. chocolate instant pudding or pie filling mix
- 2 c. whipping cream, whipped
- 2 c. sliced fresh strawberries
- 2 medium ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 Tbsp. sliced almonds
- 8 strawberries, if desired
- Cut cake into 1 inch cubes; set aside.
- In small bowl, combine milk and pudding mix; beat a low speed 1 to 2 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes to thicken.
- fold 1 1/2 cups of the whipped cream into pudding.
- Spoon about 1/3 of the pudding mixture into bottom of 2 1/2-quart straight-sided glass serving bowl.
- Add 1/3 of the fruits and 1/3 of the cake cubes.
- Repeat layers two more times.
- Pipe or dollop remaining whipped cream over top layer of cake cubes.
- Garnish with sliced almonds and strawberries.
- Store in refrigerator.
