Police Boy'S Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

• 3/4 c. packed brown sugar
• 1/2 c. sugar
• 1 1/4 c. margarine
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 1 egg
• 1 1/2 c. unsifted flour
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1 tsp. baking soda
• 2 tsp. cinnamon
• 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
• 1/4 tsp. ginger
• 3 c. rolled oats
• 2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

1. Heat oven to 375u0b0.
2. Beat sugars and margarine.
3. Add egg and vanilla.
4. Beat until light and fluffy.
5. In separate bowl, mix flour, salt, soda and spices.
6. Slowly add to creamed mixture.
7. Stir in oats.
8. Add chocolate chips and nuts.
9. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet (I use thick aluminum sheet).
10. Bake 9 to 11 minutes.
11. Remain on cookie sheet for 1 minute.
12. Cool on wire rack.
13. Makes 4 dozen.
