Special Chicken Casserole
- 3 1/2 to 4 lb. chicken, cut up
- 1/2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 c. butter or oleo
- 2 Tbsp. minced onion
- 1 tsp. celery flakes
- 1 Tbsp. sweet pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- dash of m.s.g.
- 4 oz. can mushroom soup
- 8 oz. can tomato sauce
- 1 can water
- Combine flour, salt and black pepper.
- Dip cut up chicken in this seasoned flour mixture.
- Brown chicken pieces in butter or oleo.
- Transfer to a baking dish.
- To butter, add 1 to 2 teaspoons of remaining seasoned flour, minced onion, celery flakes, sweet pepper flakes, nutmeg, dash of m.s.g., mushroom soup, tomato sauce and water.
- Simmer 5 minutes, then pour over chicken.
- Cover and bake in 350u0b0 oven until tender, about 1 hour.
- Baste.
