Chocolate Pie

  1. Shave chocolate into strips.
  2. Mix sugar, cornstarch, chocolate and salt in saucepan.
  3. Stir in milk gradually; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and comes to a boil.
  4. Boil for 1 minute; remove from heat.
  5. Stir half the hot mixture into egg yolk; blend egg yolk mixture into hot mixture remaining in saucepan.
  6. Boil for 1 minute longer, stirring constantly.
  7. Remove from heat.
  8. Blend in butter and vanilla; pour immediately into pie shell.
  9. Chill for 2 hours.
  10. Garnish with whipped cream.
