Hamburg And Sausage Soup
- 1 lb. hamburg
- 1/2 lb. Polish or smoked sausage, sliced
- 1/2 tsp. seasoned salt
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 1/2 tsp. basil
- 1/2 envelope dry onion soup mix
- 6 c. boiling water
- 2/3 (46 oz.) can tomato juice
- 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 c. chopped celery
- 1 c. chopped carrots
- 1 c. uncooked elbow macaroni or rice
- In large kettle, brown hamburg and sausage.
- Drain well.
- Add seasonings, herbs and soup mix.
- Stir in boiling water, tomato juice and soy sauce.
- Add raw vegetables and macaroni; stir well. Cover and bring to boil; turn to simmer for 45 minutes.
- Stir occasionally.
- May also be cooked in a crock-pot for 8 hours on low temperature, 4 to 5 hours on high.
- Serves 6 or more.
