Kolaches
- 2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. corn oil or shortening
- 2 dry yeast
- 1 ample tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 whole eggs plus 1 yolk
- 8 c. flour
- Combine the milk, yeast and sugar in a large bowl.
- Set aside in a warm place until rises to the top.
- Stir.
- Add salt, oil, beaten eggs and flour to make a soft dough.
- Stir until fairly smooth on top and set aside for 10 minutes.
- Cover and let rise for 30 minutes or until more than double in size.
- Cut out dough the size of a small egg with a tablespoon.
- Shape into small balls and place on a well-greased baking sheet 1 inch apart.
- Brush with melted shortening and let rise in a warm place away from draft for 15 minutes.
- Make a well in the center of each ball of dough and fill with a cooled fruit mixture.
- Let rise again for 25 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven at 375u0b0 for 15 minutes or until a golden brown.
