Bert'S Favorite Pepper Steak
- 1 large sirloin steak
- 1/4 c. oil
- 1 c. water
- 1 medium onion
- 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
- 1 large bell pepper
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 tsp. sugar (optional)
- 2 medium tomatoes
- Slice steak into thin strips, place in large skillet with the heated oil and cook on high about 5 minutes or until done.
- Add water, onions (sliced in rings) and garlic salt.
- Bring to a boil and then reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Cut bell pepper in large pieces.
- Add to skillet and simmer 5 more minutes. Mix cornstarch, sugar and soy sauce; stir into meat mixture. Stir until thick, about 2 minutes.
- Cut tomatoes into wedges; place on top, cover and heat for 3 minutes.
- Turn off; serve over rice.
- Makes 4 to 5 servings.
