Miracle Rolls

  1. Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water; set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and baking soda.
  3. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  4. Stir in yeast and sugar mixture and buttermilk.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Turn out on lightly floured surface.
  7. Knead lightly a few times.
  8. Roll to 1/2-inch thickness.
  9. Cut with biscuit cutter.
  10. Place on lightly greased baking sheet.
  11. Let rise in warm place about 45 minutes.
  12. (Can make dough night before and refrigerate.
  13. Next day, punch down, shape rolls; let rise and bake.)
  14. Bake at 400u0b0 for 10 minutes.
  15. Yields 4 dozen.
