Green Bean Casserole
- 2 pkg. (10 oz. each) frozen French-style green beans
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1 c. creamer
- 5 oz. can sliced water chestnuts, drained
- 2 c. hot water
- 3/4 c. Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- Cook beans until done, reducing time slightly; drain well, reserving 2 cups water.
- Set green beans aside.
- Melt butter; blend in flour.
- Add creamer; gradually add reserved hot water and stir to blend.
- Cook over medium heat (stir so as not to stick), until mixture bubbles and thickens.
- Stir in seasonings and 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.
- Add cooked beans and water chestnuts, mixing well.
- Pour into greased 1 1/2-quart baking dish.
- Sprinkle remaining Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake at 325u0b0 for 25 to 30 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with onion rings or chow mein noodles.
