Sourdough Bread

  1. Scald milk, stir in sugar, salt and margarine.
  2. Cool to lukewarm.
  3. Put warm water in large bowl.
  4. Sprinkle in yeast and stir until dissolved.
  5. Add milk mixture, starter and 2 1/2 cups flour.
  6. Mix until smooth.
  7. Add enough flour to make a stiff dough. Turn onto floured board.
  8. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  9. Place in greased bowl and cover.
  10. Let rise until double in size (about 1 hour).
  11. Punch dough down, divide into 3 equal parts.
  12. Form each piece into a roll.
  13. Place in loaf pans with sharp knife.
  14. Cut dough in a crisscross fashion on top.
  15. Cover and let rise until double in size.
  16. Bake at 400u0b0 for 25 minutes.
