Wholesome Joes

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown beef with onion and garlic; drain well.
  2. Stir in remaining ingredients (including chili powder, hot sauce, etc., if desired) except sandwich buns. Bring to boil.
  3. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 40 to 45 minutes or until lentils are tender, stirring occasionally and adding water if mixture becomes too dry.
  4. Spoon 1/2 cup mixture onto each bun, toasted, if desired.
  5. Yields 6 servings.
