Beef Stroganoff 1
- 3 lb. round steak, cut about 3/4 inch thick
- flour as needed
- cooking oil as needed
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 onions
- paprika
- 2 c. vegetable stock or bouillon
- 1 Tbsp. meat sauce
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. mace
- 1/4 tsp. cumin
- 1/4 tsp. chili powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 2 Tbsp. horseradish
- 1 c. sour cream
- Pound the round steak, then cut into cubes.
- Flour lightly and brown in oil with garlic clove.
- Shake paprika over each side as cooked.
- Slice the onions and brown with the meat.
- Mix the vegetable stock or bouillon with the meat sauce, seasonings and spices.
- Pour over meat and onions.
- Sprinkle all with more paprika.
- Simmer for about 1 1/2 hours; when ready to serve, mix in the horseradish and the sour cream and simmer for a few more minutes.
