Picadillo(Ernest Hemingway'S Recipe, Finca Vigia, Cuba)

  1. Soak raisins in hot broth for 10 minutes or until plump. Drain.
  2. Heat oil in large skillet and quickly brown beef, 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Add wine, onion, salt, garlic, oregano, cloves and pepper.
  4. Simmer 15 minutes.
  5. Stir in green pepper.
  6. Cook 5 minutes longer.
  7. Stir in almonds and raisins.
  8. Serve over rice.
  9. Makes 8 servings.
  10. Omit salt if wanted.
