Caramel Layer Chocolate Squares

  1. On top of stove or in microwave, combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
  2. Cook on low until melted and smooth.
  3. Set aside. Generously grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  4. Combine cake mix, butter and remaining milk and nuts.
  5. By hand, stir until dough holds together. Press 1/2 of the dough into pan.
  6. Bake at 350u0b0 for 6 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle chips and nuts over baked crust.
  8. Spread caramel mixture over chocolate chips and nuts.
  9. Crumble reserved dough over caramel mixture.
  10. Bake 15 to 18 minutes.
  11. Cool and refrigerate about 5 minutes, to set caramel layer.
  12. Cut into squares.
