Homemade Soup
- 1/2 to 1 lb. beef
- several carrots, cut in bite size pieces
- cut up potatoes
- 1 qt. can tomatoes
- 1 can cream-style corn
- 1 c. water
- 1 or 2 beef bouillon cubes
- cut up okra (if you have it)
- several stalks celery, cut up
- 1 onion, cut up
- Brown beef.
- I cut up a cheap piece of steak or roast (ground meat is fine).
- I don't use stew meat.
- Add to your Dutch oven or large boiler in which you have boiled several carrots.
- The carrots should have been boiled only for a short time.
- Add cut up potatoes, tomatoes and cream-style corn.
- Boil a cup of water; add bouillon cubes.
- Add to soup mix.
- Cut up okra is good to add if you have it.
- Also add celery and onion (cut up, but not real fine).
- Boil for 5 or 10 minutes.
- Simmer for an hour or two.
- I serve with cornbread.
