Christmas Cookies
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 1/2 c. strong coffee
- 3 1/2 c. flour, sifted
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 Tbsp. anise seed
- Mix margarine, sugar, eggs and molasses.
- Mix in coffee.
- In a separate bowl, mix together flour, pepper, cloves, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, baking powder and 2 tablespoons anise seed.
- Mix dry ingredients into coffee mixture.
- It will be sticky so add a little more flour to make dough stiff.
- Roll out thin. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 350u0b0 and watch carefully.
- Make a thin frosting of powdered sugar, water and a drop of vanilla. Frost first, then use colored sprinkles.
