Firehouse Meat Loaf
- 1 1/2 to 2 lb. ground round
- 1 can (16 oz.) tomato sauce
- 2 c. crushed cracker crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- Pour 12 ounces tomato sauce over meat and reserve remainder.
- Add cracker, onions, egg, salt and pepper. Combine until uniform.
- Pack meat into a large loaf pan.
- Pour remaining tomato sauce over the loaf.
- Bake for 1 to 1 1/4 hours or until loaf is firm and pulls away from sides of the pan. Remove from oven and allow to cool 10 minutes.
- Pour off grease and reserve for gravy.
- Pour hot fat in skillet and fry 1 chopped onion.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon Season-All and 4 heaping tablespoonfuls flour to skillet.
- Pour in enough water to make a medium thick gravy.
