Treasure Chest Bars
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. regular sugar
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 2 unbeaten eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 c. salted nuts, broken in large pieces
- 1 c. chocolate bits
- 1 c. well drained cherries, halved
- Sift first 3 ingredients together and set aside.
- Add brown sugar, sugar and butter or margarine.
- Cream these ingredients thoroughly; blend in eggs.
- Beat well after each addition.
- Add vanilla and beat well.
- Now add dry ingredients alternately with milk; begin and end with dry ingredients.
- Blend well after each addition.
- Stir in nuts, chocolate bits and cherries.
- Turn into 13 x 9-inch or two 8 x 8-inch pans, greased and floured on bottom and bake at 325u0b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Frost warm.
- Cool to serve.
- Cut into squares.
