Grandma'S Casserole
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 1 green pepper
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
- 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 tsp. seasoned salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 can (1 lb. 12 oz.) whole tomatoes with juice
- 1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
- 2 c. water
- 1 pkg. (8 oz.) wide noodles, uncooked
- sliced Mozzarella cheese
- Saute onion and green pepper (cut into strips) in margarine for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Add beef and brown, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Add salt, pepper and sugar.
- Stir in tomatoes, sauce and water.
- Heat mixture to boiling.
- Reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes.
- Layer sauce, noodles and sauce alternately, ending with sauce layer.
- Top with cheese.
- Cover tightly with foil.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 45 minutes.
- Uncover and cook 5 minutes longer.
- Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
- Serves 6 to 8.
