Five Layer Dinner
- 1 medium onion
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 tsp. seasoned salt
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. parsley flakes (optional)
- 1/2 to 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 to 1 1/2 c. cooked green lima beans, drained
- 1 to 1 1/2 c. whole grain corn, drained
- 4 medium tomatoes
- 1/2 to 1 c. grated sharp cheese
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- Chop onion; place in pan with shortening.
- Add ground beef and cook until brown.
- Pour off excess fat.
- Add chili powder; mix well.
- Place meat in casserole dish as first layer, then green lima beans and the corn.
- Pour tomatoes over the corn; sprinkle with pepper.
- Mix sugar and salt and sprinkle over each layer, except on cheese.
- Top with grated cheese and parsley.
- Bake 25 minutes.
- Serve hot.
