Old World Style Beef Stew
- 1/2 lb. bacon, diced
- 3 lb. beef, cut into cubes
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 c. tomato puree
- 2 tsp. beef base or granules
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 2 to 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp. garlic salt
- 1 drop Tabasco sauce
- 5 to 6 juniper berries
- 2 cans beer
- Cook bacon until half done; drain excess fat.
- Saute onions with bacon until transparent.
- Add beef and saute until all red is gone.
- Add minced garlic and flour until all flour is absorbed. Add remaining ingredients.
- Stir and bring to a boil.
- Mix well, being careful that nothing sticks to bottom of pan.
- Reduce heat and let simmer 45 to 60 minutes until meat is tender or bake in 350u0b0 oven for 1 hour until meat is tender.
