Double Deck Brownies
- 2/3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. double acting baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. melted butter
- 1/3 c. flaked coconut
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 1 1/2 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
- Start heating oven to 350u0b0.
- Sift flour with baking powder and salt.
- With hand beater or electric mixer, beat eggs at medium speed, gradually adding sugar.
- Stir in melted butter and flour mixture, blending well.
- Pour 1/4 batter into small bowl.
- Blend in coconut and almond extract.
- Blend chocolate into remaining batter.
- Spread mixture into a well-greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan. Spread coconut batter onto chocolate mixture.
- Bake 35 minutes or until done.
- Cool and cut into squares.
- Makes about 2 dozen.
