Deluxe Dog Bones
- 1 lb. beef livers
- 2 large eggs, washed
- 1 c. low-fat cottage cheese
- 1 1/2 c. wheat germ
- 3 1/4 c. whole wheat flour
- Cut livers into 1-inch chunks and add 1 cup water.
- Bring to a boil, cover and simmer about 5 minutes until no longer pink.
- Drain off liquid and add water to make 1 cup.
- Put livers in food processor; break in eggs (including shells).
- Puree, adding reserved liquid as needed to keep mixture moving.
- Scrape into bowl; mix in remaining ingredients.
- Turn onto board and knead until not sticky.
- Clean board; dust with flour.
- Dust ball of dough with flour.
- Roll out 1/4-inch thick.
- Shape bones by hand or use cookie cutter.
- Bake 1 hour at 300u0b0.
- If not hard when cooled, return to oven and bake 10 minutes longer.
- Store in airtight container or freeze.
